Hindus, who retain the ancient pagan culture, worship the Infinite Power of the “Formless Divine Spirit” in various symbolic forms…We try to Imagine the Infinite in varied finite forms! As imagination itself has no limit, so is our perception of the DIVINE….this is what makes us so all-embracing, flexible, pluralistic, and colorful! There is no rigid rule that binds us… it is the “Spirit of Liberty” that does!

This acceptance of plurality, color, vibrancy, and all-inclusiveness in India binds us culturally. As we have accepted different forms of worship within our sect, we have also embraced the existence of other religious conditions that prevail in India and make it culturally enriched! There is terrific Unity in Diversity!!! Love for Humanity, Nature, Color, and Celebration of Life binds us as Indians.

It is less about religious rules, more about embracing the Philosophy of “LIVE AND HELP LIVE”!

There are rules and chants and rituals and fasting in Hinduism, which you may follow or skip as a Hindu if you want, but not the Essence of Tolerance, Sacrifice, Non- Violence, Love, and Forgiveness. It is more about SPIRITUAL ENLIGHTENMENT than adhering to any strict code of daily ritual.

It accepts the Democratic Spirit, not just in Parliament that upholds our truly Secular belief and incorporates it into our personal and social life.

If there are excesses and deviations in our system, we condemn them and try to reform them constantly! It is not that we are a perfect system(every system has loopholes, as we too have). There is ignorance, rigidity, and the presence of extremism indeed. However, liberal thinkers always outnumber them in our country. This perception of our imperfection and the constant effort to improve it to suit today’s “Globalized Existence” make us unique. This self-assessment and spirit of reformation sustain our multi-cultural and multi-lingual nation!

So Hinduism is less about religious rigidity; it is more about a philosophy of life, a way of life to avoid disharmony and attract harmony and peaceful co-existence.
We need sanity amid insanity, order amidst disorder, love amid hatred; above all, CONSTRUCTION, NOT DESTRUCTION!

The author caught the essence of Hinduism: unity in diversity, singularity amidst plurality. Yes it’s not a religion but philosophy.

Yes, you are correct and I agree with you 100%. In today’s busy life, people have forgotten the power of spirituality and its importance in our lives. Thanks again for pointing out this subject so readers can remember that after all, wherever possible we must offer help to someone in need and spread love in the society.
